Five things you should know about The Edinburgh International Conference & Exhibition Centre (EICC)
The Edinburgh International Conference & Exhibition Centre, better known as EICC, will be exhibiting at The Meetings Show 2025. Ahead of the show, we highlight five interesting facts about this multi-purpose venue in central Edinburgh.
It’s a flexible space. The venue has eight distinct suites, 24 individual event rooms and two reception areas covering a floor area of 8,000 square metres with a total capacity of 5,760 people. It can be configured in multiple ways with the majority of events hosting between 1,000 and 2,000 delegates.
The centre boasts a revolving auditoria. The feature helps with the optimisation of space, turning the Pentland Auditorium from 600 capacity to 1,200 capacity. Additionally, the venue’s Lennox Suite has a hall-wide tension wire grid and moving floor so it can adapt for a range of events. In the past, the space has been used for everything from tennis matches to a vaccine centre during the Covid-19 lockdown.
It's easy to find. EICC is a short walk from Haymarket Train Station, Edinburgh Castle and Princes Street Gardens.
It turns 30 this year. The purpose built event venue opened in 1995 and has been going strong ever since, hosting around 200,000 delegates each year and generating over £930m in revenue for the city of Edinburgh.
The Edinburgh Festival is held there. The EICC has partnered with Pleasance as one of their largest Fringe venues since 2017, becoming a major hub of activity throughout the month of August each year.
