Fiona’s career spans government and private sector roles, including the New Zealand Ministry of Tourism, giving tourism policy and research advice to the then Minister for Tourism, Prime Minister John Key. She worked on a number of tourism projects of national importance including the £25million funding of a national tourism cycleway. She also worked for Reed Exhibitions – one of the world’s largest exhibition organisers - specialising in the Travel Division of leisure, MICE and luxury travel events, shaping their global strategy and identifying launches and acquisitions. During her time, she spearheaded the launch and acquisition of 14 new events in 11 countries, doubling the number of events in the Travel Portfolio. She played an integral part in the international expansion strategy of some well-known event brands including World Travel Market (WTM), International Luxury Travel Market (ILTM) and IBTM. Fiona is now Senior Manager, Business Events at VisitBritain / VisitEngland, delivering on UK government’s new strategy and investment to grow international business events into the UK. Heavily shaping the new strategy direction, Fiona leads international marketing of the UK and England to international business events organisers.
