Tomorrow’s Talent 2024: Benedicta Asante

Benedicta Asante is passionate about the events industry and advocates for gateways within the events industry to allow young people to find fulfilling careers within it.

She started her first events business – Palmarius Events - at the tender age of 20 while studying for her degree before landing the role of venue sourcing specialist in pharmaceuticals at American Express Global Business Travel.

Four years later, after she was made redundant at the height of the Covid-19 pandemic, Benedicta started the ‘Millennial Event Manager’ blog, creating a platform for young people like herself to learn more about careers in events. She went on to create Events 101, a series of seminars with notable event professionals, now available on YouTube.

What does being a Tomorrow’s Talent winner mean to you?

As a strong advocate for new talent within the events industry, I believe this recognition will allow me to broaden my network and expand the way in which Events 101 provides opportunities for young people coming into our amazing industry.

Do you feel there is enough support for event professionals when starting out in the industry?

No, the industry is very much tight knit meaning that someone without a network would find it difficult to break into it. However, I see this as a positive for those coming in to go out and attend industry events and meet event professionals before they enter the industry.

Tell us about your proudest career moment so far and why?

Starting events 101 and being able to collaborate with over 30 companies to provide opportunities to over 200 students in the last 4 years. Also being able to maintain a community of passionate young people who want to get into events over the last 3 years

What are your career ambitions?

Career wise, I’m constantly transitioning and understanding how I can have an impact in the industry. So, I have no ambitions other than to make an impact which supports the next generation of passionate event professionals.

What do you most love about working in events?

The diversity of roles and people. There’s no glass ceiling in the events industry it is very much open to whoever is willing to do the work. I’ve met so many different people from different backgrounds and the ability to work on a project or speak on a panel together to achieve a common goal is phenomenal.
